MINUTES OF THE HINGHAM SCHOOL COMMITTEE
February 5, 2007
The meeting was called to order by Chrisanne Gregoire at 7:34 p.m. at the School Department Conference Room.
Members Present: Chrisanne Gregoire, Steve Nagle, Christine Smith, Barbara Cook, Esther Healey, Linda Hill, Kristin Parnell.
Central Office Present: Dot Galo, Ellen Keane, Jean Curtis Loud, David Killory.
Visitors Present: Roger Boddie, Douglas Holley, Gretchen Hersey, Dennis Friedman, Amy Farrell.

New Business.
The Committee discussed the scope of the proposed Town Meeting Warrant article that is requested to further the development of the 2006 Master Plan.
Steve Nagle reviewed a recent School Building Committee meeting regarding delayed timetables for building projects. Christine Smith reported for the Long Range Planning Subcommittee.
The Committee discussed the NEASC/CPSS Standard on Instruction, Part III of a 7-part discussion. Dot Galo reviewed the NEASC Instruction Standard and Indicators.
The Committee received notification of the change in employment status from substitute to full time for Roberta Sweeney, a food service worker at South School, effective January 11, 2007.
The Committee received notification of the change in employment status from substitute to full time for Gayle Henderson, a food service worker at South School, effective January 11, 2007.
The Committee received notification of the change in employment status from substitute to full time for Nancy Garvey, a food service worker at Hingham High School, effective January 11, 2007.
The Committee received notification of the retirement of Mary Alberti, a grade 5 teacher at South School, effective August 31, 2007.
The Committee received notification of the advancement on the salary schedule to Master’s degree for Leda Eizenberg, an English teacher at Hingham High School, effective February 1, 2007.
The Committee received notification of the advancement on the salary schedule to Master’s +30 for Leslie Flanagan, elementary literacy coordinator, effective February 1, 2007.
The Committee received notification of the advancement on the salary schedule to Master’s +30 for Gretchen Laudenat, a special education teacher at South School, effective February 1, 2007.
The Committee received notification of the advancement on the salary schedule to Master’s Degree for Deanne Moore, an English teacher at Hingham High School, effective February 1, 2007.
The Committee received notification of the advancement on the salary schedule to Master’s degree for Maria Swirbalus, a reading teacher at Hingham High School, effective February 1, 2007.
The Committee received notification of the advancement on the salary schedule to Master’s +60 for Janet Duffy, a science teacher at Hingham High School, effective February 1, 2007.
The Committee received information regarding an overnight field trip of the AFS Club to Lenoir, North Carolina February 21 through February 26, 2007.
Budget.
David Killory reviewed the FY ’07 2nd quarter financial report. Dot Galo reviewed the FY ’08 school budget update, February 5, 2007, and the school budget vs. town forecast.
Superintendent’s Report.
1. Hingham High School was recognized as a DOE Compass School and received an award at the February 5th award ceremony at the State House.
