MINUTES OF THE HINGHAM SCHOOL COMMITTEE

 

April 23, 2007

 

Regular Session

 

 

The meeting was called to order by Chrisanne Gregoire at 6:35 p.m. at Hingham High School.   

 

Members Present:         Chrisanne Gregoire, Steve Nagle, Barbara Cook, Esther Healey, Linda Hill, Kristin Parnell.

 

Central Office Present:  Dot Galo, Ellen Keane, David Killory, Jean Curtis Loud.

 

Visitors Present:            Michael Page.

 

On a motion by Linda Hill and seconded by Esther Healey,

 

            It was

            Voted:              To approve the Minutes of the Regular Session of April 9, 2007. 

 

On a motion by Kristin Parnell and seconded by Barbara Cook,

 

            It was

            Voted:              To approve the Minutes of the Executive Session of April9, 2007.

 

Student School Committee Communications.

 

Michael Page reported on student trips over the April vacation period.

 

New Business.

 

The Committee received notification of the appointment of Kathleen LeBlanc as a grade 5 teacher at South School, effective August 27, 2007.

 

The Committee received notification of the appointment of Elizabeth Resnick as a psychologist/chair at Foster School, effective August 27, 2007.

 

Budget.

 

David Killory distributed the FY 2008 budget books.

 

2006 School Building Committee and Sub-committee Reports.

 

Steve Nagle reported on the School Building Committee.  Linda Hill reported on negotiations.  Esther Healey reported on the Hingham Middle School Climate Committee.

 

Superintendent’s Report.

 

1.         Ballot information – School Committee officers.

2.         Orientation for new School Committee members – April 30.

3.         Final CPR report.

4.         Government Relations Group – Preliminary Analysis of House Ways & Means FY 2008 Budget.

5.         Funding of .5 elementary science specialists.

6.         Interviews – science director.

 

Chris Gregoire thanked Kristin Parnell for her service on the School Committee.

            Voted:              By roll call vote, with all in favor, to adjourn to the Annual Town Meeting at 6:55 p.m.
