MINUTES OF THE HINGHAM SCHOOL COMMITTEE

 

September 10, 2007

 

Regular Session

 

 

The meeting was called to order by Chrisanne Gregoire at 7:40 p.m. at the School Department Conference Room.   

 

Members Present:                Chrisanne Gregoire, Christine Smith, Barbara Cook, Caryl Falvey, Esther Healey, Linda Hill, Steve Nagle.

 

Central Office Present:        Dot Galo, Ellen Keane, Jean Curtis Loud, David Killory.

 

Visitors Present:                   Gretchen Amonte, Paul Field.

 

 

On a motion by Esther Healey and seconded by Christine Smith,

 

                It was

                Voted:                    To approve the Minutes of the Regular Session of August 20, 2007. 

 

On a motion by Christine Smith and seconded by Caryl Falvey,

 

                It was

                Voted:                    To approve the Minutes of the Executive Session of August 20, 2007.

 

 

New Business.

 

The Committee heard a report on the start of school for the 2007-2008 school year. 

 

The Committee heard a report on school enrollment for 2007-2008.

 

The Committee heard a report on the progress in accomplishing the Superintendent/School Committee goals for 2006-2007.

 

The Committee heard a report on summer maintenance projects.

 

The Committee received the updated curriculum for K-6.

 

On a motion by Christine Smith and seconded by Steve Nagle,

 

                It was

                Voted:                    To approve the Proposed Schedule of School Committee Presentations Including  Program Reviews and Other Special Reports for the 2007-2008 school year.

 

The Committee reviewed the NEASC/CPSS 101 quiz.

 

The Committee received notification of the following resignations:  Patricia Cotter, Heather Fredette, Nancy Garvey, Mark Patrolia, Debra Reed, and Sharyn Waters.

 

The Committee received notification of the following appointments:  Elizabeth Benger, Lisa Brooks, Kathy Burnes, Karen Clay, Allyson Craib, Connie Cummings, Jennifer Curran, Kris d’Entremont, Patricia DiTullio, Meghan Duffy, Amy Gaffey, Maureen Giblin, Eileen Homen, Molly Howard, Deborah Lumbert, Susan MacKay, Russell McKeown, Annie McNight, Bianca Moruzzi, Kaitlin Moynahan, Christine Nazzaro, Phyllis Powers, Daniel Rogier, Judith Serafini, Andrea Sferruzza, Sara Swan-Carlezon, Maura Talbot, and Margaret White.

 

The Committee received notification of the overnight field trip to Cape Cod Sea Camps, Brewster, MA September 19-21, 2007.

 

 On a motion by Linda Hill and seconded by Esther Healey,

 

                It was

                Voted:                    To approve the home schooling of Julia and Nicholas O’Keefe for the 2007-2008 school   year.

 

 

The Committee received notification of fall coaching assignments, as recommended.

               

 

2006 School Building Committee and sub-committee reports.

 

Steve Nagle reviewed the status of the School Building Committee’s discussion regarding building project priority requested by MSBA.  Christine Smith, Long Range Planning, reported on the Committee’s meeting conducted before the SC meeting.  Caryl Falvey, Community Outreach Chair, reported on plans.

 

Superintendent’s Report.

 

1.             Jim Stovall “Ultimate Gift” visit September 19 to HHS.

 

On a motion by Linda Hill and seconded by Esther Healey,

 

 

                It was

                Voted:                    By roll call vote, with all in favor, to adjourn to Executive Session at 9:10 p.m. to discuss strategies related to contract negotiations with Administrators and Collective Bargaining with the Paraprofessional unit.
